Broken Password Recovery Fixed Written by: Flumens on March 8, 2010 | | | | A few complaints have come in that the password recovery feature on the test website was "killing" accounts. This has been fixed. Whether or not your account was affected, you can recover your password normally now at http://www.shadowro.com/testwebsite.
Sorry for the inconvenience. |
Moving the .net domain Written by: Mikey on December 14, 2009 | | | | Hi all,
Just as an FYI, I'm moving all content hosted on the shadowro.net domain over to shadowro.com. This includes:
- the forum
- the bugtracker
- all download files (e.g. client, installer, etc.)
Please update your bookmarks accordingly.
Also, if you notice any broken links that still point to the .net domain, please let me know.
Thanks! |
What bots? Written by: Flumens on October 25, 2009 | | | | Hey guys, it's me again! Surprise!
Should of thought of this sooner, but we've shut down forum registration, kind of. So how do you get a forum account? Well, if you're reading this, you've already got one! But you can create a forum account only through the registration process at our main site: http://www.shadowro.com.
The main site's registration creates both a game account AND a forum account for you anyway, so there's no need to allow direct registration on the forums. This should effectively block all those pesky bots, as they sign up through our forum only.
So if you were looking for drugs and porn, it's time to move on. (I think)
Update: I spoke too soon. There's a bug with the shadowro.com registration form where the forum registration doesn't successfully complete, despite successfully running the script. So let's make this an announcement of what's to come in the next 1-2 days. |
What happened to www.shadowro.com! Written by: Flumens on October 20, 2009 | | | | | In case anybody noticed, http://www.shadowro.com doesn't lead to our website at the moment. We had a domain renewal issue (as in, we didn't renew it before it expired) which has now been resolved. The website shoud be back within 1-2 days. Sorry guys! |
September 8, 2009 Update News Written by: Flumens on September 8, 2009 | | | | We had an eAthena update and a client side update last night. Full details can be found in the change list (it's stickied in the news and announcements section).
The eAthena update was mostly uneventful, though some new items and mobs should be in. Baka included a bunch of changes to the server, such as WOE tweaks and a bunch of bug fixes.
The client side update was just translations for the new items so that we can access them normally. Be sure to run the patcher or you could crash.
Probably the most notable changes are the WOE changes and the pet changes. WOE:FE will now run on Wednesdays during the usual time (5 to 7 PM server time). WOE: SE will run on Sundays during the usual time (1 to 3 PM server time). Since each WOE is only once per week, investing is now limited to once per day to balance this out. Baka also made a few tweaks to WOE:SE in particular, but I'll let him explain it.
The pets should now give bonuses to their owner. I didn't have time to test this, but I believe that eAthena's pet system is based on Doddler's description, which can be found in his wiki at http://ro.doddlercon.com/wiki.
As usual, if there are any bugs, please report them ASAP.
The next update should include some new custom content, and I'm looking at getting a newer client as ours is now woefully outdated. This will likely also prompt a new stand alone installation in the future.
That's it for now guys, enjoy! |

Forum Member Cleaning Written by: kaypha on August 7, 2009 | | | | We've been in a pretty hard fight against various bots in the forums recently, so in about one week we're going to do a big sweep of the forum member accounts. Anyone with 0-1 posts or an advertising link in their profile is going to get auto-pruned off the server.
If for whatever reason, you fall in this category and want to keep your current account. Post in this thread.
Thank you. |
Donations Written by: kaypha on August 6, 2009 | | | | Please guys, we appreciate that some of you want to donate and support the server's upkeep. That's wonderful. However, some people have been donating and then disputing the charges, which requires me to reimburse all that money. As a result we are very much in the red and I can't afford to pay the difference for last month as well as this month's bills if this keeps up. Do NOT donate using a credit card that isn't yours without the owner's permission. EVER.
That being said, I wanted to know how the community felt about limited time donation incentives to help keep the server up.
This is how it would work. By donating some x amount of dollars (TBD) you could receive a limited time donation item automatically and completely extra (it doesnt come out of your donation amount). This item would change every month and would not be items you could normally get in-game. They would likely come from the list of items that are already offered in RO's premium shop or selected others.
If we do this, the items would not necessarily be bound to your account, meaning you can do whatever you want with them (or help your friends collect them). Obviously, we would still like non-donators to have a shot at these items so they could still be obtained in events, but you would not necessarily know in advance - which events will give out which items.

Staff update! Congratulations and thanks Sara and Akiro! Written by: Flumens on June 30, 2009 | | | | We've decided to add some needed new blood to our staff. I'm pleased to announce that both Sara and Akiro have been chosen to become our newest Event Coordinators! They've both been active, dedicated players for some time and they deserve the recognition.
Look forward to their events in the coming days and weeks, and thank them for their willingness to help out.
Thanks Sara and Akiro! |
Latest Update Follies Written by: Flumens on May 7, 2009 | | | | Okay, so good news/bad news situation...
The bad news:
The planned update had a critical bug that was not detected on my development machine and in fact cannot be reproduced on my development machine. We've switched back to the pre-update server software and we'll be running that until it's fixed.
The good news:
This update includes a new ranking system! Instead of the old, tired experience-based ranking system, I'm pleased to introduce our Title Track accomplishment system! This system can be used to track any number of game statistics ranging from some fairly standard ones such as kill count and pvp kill count to total play time to quirky things like total number of marriages or divorces. The plan is to add a fair number of titles that appeal to both hardcore monster grinders and the more social RO players. To display any title you have, as well as your current score in that title track, you can simply type "@disptitle number". It will replace your guild name and title with the corresponding accomplishment title. If you're not in a guild, you can still display a title and your score. You will be able to show off your titles in game in this manner, but we will also add a tracking system to the website so that you can view leaders and your own personal scores conveniently.
I'll post screenshots of the system running on my home test server in a few minutes. Once the last bug is worked out and we implement it, I'll post a more indepth explanation.
Thanks to Baka and Lira with their help in trying to isolate and identify this mysterious bug. Hopefully a solution will be found promptly. |
